At a price of $149, the software will allow users to stream video or even complex programs with three dimensional graphics or other applications via their personal computers. Since SkyRoom has no monthly subscription fees, and can be used on any machine and over any network that meets the software’s minimum requirements for power, speed and memory, HP sees the product as an offer that will be highly attractive to those firms who need limited teleconferencing ability, but are not looking to expand their budget to include a larger project.

SkyRoom software is planned to be bundled on some business model HP computers in the future for free, but those companies who wish to purchase stand alone copies will be able to do so via download from the company’s website. HP views the product as a more reliable alternative to other, similar products that utilize the internet such as Ebay’s Skype which has encountered problems in recent months over whether the service will remain free or not.

HP also offers Halo, a more expensive telepresence system that it markets to larger corporations.
